Dark Angel - Max's Kidnapping

Writer's picture: Ariyana FAriyana F

“I need your help.” Max said. She crossed her legs on the table, humming away as she tried to pretend she wasn’t looking at Logan. She was ready to go on her mission, but there were a few things left to do, and she hated asking people for help, but she was starting to get used to asking Logan, who always seemed like he was willing and that she wasn’t a bother. She was exploring new styles these days, and although it seemed like it would hinder her missions, her genetic abilities were so powerful she didn’t have to wear anything special to kill the people she wanted to. Her black locks were tied up in a high ponytail, which she had tied as tight as she could so it wouldn’t get away while she kicked ass. She wore a leather cowboy hat, which reflected nicely under the light. She had a striped red bandanna around her neck, a light blue open denim jacket with distinct silver buttons on top of a white long sleeve button up shirt- it showed off her cleavage quite well, though that wasn’t something she was doing on purpose. She even specially went to an antiques store to buy a golden buckle, which she immediately pushed onto her black leather belt, which was made out of the same material as her hat. Her tight blue boot cut jeans showed off her ass nicely, and she couldn’t help but notice Logan glance at it as she strutted into the room.

Her brown cowboy boots were adorned with hand-sewed beads, which decorated it in a stylish way and made her want to strut around even louder than normal. She now had it fully displayed on the table she sat at, glancing at Logan once in a while to see if he was going to respond to her. She twirled the blue beaded native choker on her neck, pretending she was playing with it while giving him only the slightest bit of attention.

“Ehem.” She cleared her throat loudly.

Logan finally glanced up from his device, which he was fervently typing on as Eyes Only. “Yes?”

“Did you hear what I said?” She demanded, crossing her arms at him and pouting.

“No, No I did not.” He replied, rolling his eyes at her, knowing she was about to explode at him.

“I. Said.” She emphasized every word, leaning her shoulders towards where he was sitting. “I need your help.”

“Wow, you’ve never asked so nicely before.” He grinned.

“I’m feeling nice today.” She flipped her hair, grinning back at him.

“Help with what? I’m kind of busy with my work right now.” He pointed towards his screen, and Max had no idea what he was doing, but she wasn’t about to say so.

“I need you to give me as much information as you can about this team.” She explained. “They stole something, something valuable from a museum, and somehow I’m being blamed for it? I’m a thief, yes. But I would never be so stupid.”

“Do you know anything that I can go on?” He asked, now serious. He knew Max almost always had important work going on, and wanted to help her as much as possible when he could.

“Yeah. They wear leather biker jackets, and it always has a particular symbol on it.” She furrowed her eyebrows to think. “Um… let me draw it for you.” She grabbed a pen and paper, and started to draw.

He laughed out loud at her concentration. “Hah. Are you sure you’re going to be able to do it justice? I’m not sure if you’re a very good artist.”

“Don’t be rude!” She hit him gently on the arm, but it hurt badly, and he screamed out, holding onto this arm.

“Ow! Stop hitting me!” He cried out, glaring at her.

“Then let me draw.” She replied, and went back into it, creating a model of what she saw on the news. He nodded when she handed it to him, and frantically typed on his computer while she patiently waited.

She glanced over at him over and over, and finally said, “Did you figure out anything?”

“I figured out they have an offshore bank account, and there’s a number attached to it.” He said, his eyebrows furrowed in concentration.

“How is that going to help in any way?” She asked.

“Well… what if we just give them a call?” He grinned. She cocked her head in confusion, waiting for him to say more. “If you can somehow establish a long enough phone call, I can figure out where they are… give you the coordinates… and then you can kick some ass.” He said.

“I like the way you think.” She winked at him. He dialed the number on his device, and they waited with bated breaths as it rang. Once, twice. Finally, the person answered the phone. It was a rough voice, impacted by years of smoking it seemed.

“Hello?” He asked.

“Hi!” Max replied in a high pitch voice, completely different from her usual sarcastic tone.

“Who is this?”

“It’s Jessica!” She screamed loudly.

“Wrong number, hun.” He said

Before he could hang up the phone she said, “Wait! Wait! I have important news for you.” Logan waved his hand at her, indicating for her to say more.

“What news?” She had piqued his curiosity.

“Um… our organization wants to partner with yours. We’ve heard great things.” She came up with something on the spot

“Who the hell are you? Tell me or I’ll fucking hunt you down. How did you get this number?” She mouthed ‘oops’ at Logan. She had no idea he would get that angry.

“It’s the bank, you know, your account in New Mexico? Your funding makes you eligible for additional help with our organization.” She explained.

“Oh I see.” He calmed down, “What kind of help are you offering?” Logan was frantically typing, the meter on the bar increasing slowly as he did. The map zoomed in closer and closer onto their location, and he waved her on, asking her to speak more.

“See, no need to get angry, sir.” She gagged at Logan, she’s never been this nice before. “Let me grab my manager to speak to you. You’re such an important customer, after all. Just hold on for a few minutes.” She put her hand over the mic, and mouthed: “Are you done yet!?”

Logan shook his head as they heard, “C’mon woman, I’m busy here.” On the line.

The bar increased… and slowly they could see the map reveal the top of a warehouse, its roof almost completely destroyed. “Bingo!” Logan screamed out, then immediately covered his mouth.

“Hello? What did you say?” They heard on the line, and Max turned off the call immediately, grinning sheepishly.

“It worked?” She asked, leaning over Logan’s shoulder to look at the screen.

He looked up at her affectionately, then shook his head, getting back to the matter at hand. “Yup! This is where they are. Here, let me write down the location for you.” He grabbed the pen she was using, and wrote it down on her wrist.

She didn’t want to remind him that she had a photographic memory, and wouldn’t need him to write it down for her. She was enjoying the touching too much to tell him to stop.

When he finished, she patted him on his head, messing up his hair in the process. “Thanks.”

“Whoa... what’s gotten into you today?” He asked, fixing up his hair.

“I told you I’m trying to be nice!” She said loudly, before strutting out of the room, sure that Logan was checking out her ass again.

She got onto her bike, which was haphazardly thrown onto the ground when she arrived to talk to Logan. It was a silver motorcycle with black accents, and one that she was very proud of for owning. It would take her a couple of hours to get to their location, but it was worth it. She was intent on saving these women, who she knew did nothing wrong in this situation. It had also been a while since she properly kicked some ass, so she was looking forward to that as well.

She couldn’t help but look at the view as she drove by. It was getting dark, and as the city lights faded around her and the stars started showing up, she stopped thinking about where she was going or what she was doing. She wanted to stay there forever, and was thankful again that they managed to escape out of that prison so long ago. She would’ve never met all these friends… and enjoy the sky like this.

When she finally arrived, it was dead in the middle of the night. Making sure there was no one watching her, she parked her bike where no one could hide it, behind some dead yellow bushes- the only sense of life around. The warehouse looked exactly like how it looked in Logan’s satellite imaging. A seemingly abandoned building in the middle of a desert with a large truck parked outside. It had torn wallpaper around the edges and graffiti throughout, so faded she could barely read the words. She felt a shiver down her spine. Usually, nothing scared her or fazed her… not after what she’s been through as a kid. But it seemed familiar to her somehow, like she’s seen it before, and she didn’t like that. She’s been through too much for something familiar to her to be a good thing.

She shook her head, getting the terrible thoughts out of her head. She needed to have a clear mind to be able to take on all these men at once. She adjusted her outfit so she would look gorgeous when she did so- made sure her hat was on straight, her belt was still shimmery under the moonlight, and her boots were clean from all the dirt in the area. She nodded at herself- yes, perfect.

She strutted into the door, looking left and right- still nothing. It was weird- too quiet in her opinion, and a familiar shiver went down her spine again. What was wrong with her today? She decided she wouldn’t go in through the front door- she would be stupid to do so. She could take on a lot of guys, but she wasn’t sure how many were in there. She would have to scout the situation first. She climbed up like a monkey, securing her hands against the nearly collapsed building, grasping anything she could as she climbed. It wouldn’t be an easy feat for a normal person, almost impossible. But she wasn’t a normal person, no matter how much she wished to be sometimes. Finally, she reached what appeared to be a window. She glanced inside- no one was there. No one she could see, at least.

She smashed it open quickly with her superhuman strength, and cursed at how loud it was- someone would’ve heard it for sure. Maybe they were all deep sleepers and wouldn’t hear the commotion? She put her arm over the glass, making sure it wouldn’t be too sharp as she leaned her entire body over it. She huffed and bent, carrying herself over and into the building. She landed with a soft ‘thud’, and immediately glanced around. She used her abilities to zoom into the dark, trying to see anything she could. All it was was an abandoned warehouse… dirt covering the ground, wooden planks that must’ve been there for a century littered throughout, and old posters and propaganda stuck onto the walls. There were no signs of new life present. Could Logan have been wrong? Or tricked somehow? It didn’t seem like the guy knew they were calling him for any reason other than a partnership with the bank.

Her heart was pounding now. She was glad there was no one there with her in the same mission… she didn’t like to look weak, and she thought she must’ve looked very weak at that moment. Especially to Logan, who seemed to be able to see through her antics immediately. They were too similar for her liking. She shook her head, and tried to focus. No sounds, nothing in the distance.

She was too focused on her surroundings to look closely on the ground- her mistake. She stepped on a very simple contraption- a rope that hooked around her ankle, and it lifted her into the sky in a second before she could even fathom what was happening. She cried out, screaming in frustration- after all these years of training… it was a fucking rope that got her?

She shook her leg hard against the rope, screaming out in frustration- she didn’t care who heard now. She wanted to kill the son of a bitch who did this to her. She used her enormous upper body strength to bend herself over, leaning as much as she could to get to the rope. She swung a few times. Once, twice. She wasn’t bent enough to grab it. Finally, she reached it. She cheered a bit to herself, but she cheered too early. Before she could manage to untie the knots around her ankle, she heard strong footsteps approach, one that was confident in not being completely destroyed by her. She didn’t like that.

“Hello.” It was the same voice as the one she heard on the phone. Oh no.

“Get me the fuck out of this stupid contraption.” She demanded.

“How can such a pretty girl like you have such a dirty mouth?” He grinned up at her, though she couldn’t see with him standing behind her.

“Let me down and I’ll show you how pretty I am.” She cursed, pointing her middle finger up at him.

“Oh no, no.” He shook his head. “I know what you’re capable of. You think I’d be so stupid to let you off of there? We’ve been trying to get to you for years… and it’s finally happened.” He grinned so wide it almost removed the horror of the scar on his face.

“What do you mean?” She asked, horrified. Before she could receive a reply though, she felt a horrible sensation on her head, a large banging sound, and her consciousness faded completely.

It was a few hours later and almost daylight when she finally woke up. She blinked a few times, adjusting to her surroundings and the sun’s rays as she did so. She reached up to touch the burning sensation on her skull, but found that she couldn’t, and that her hands were tied up behind her back on the chair she was sitting on. She groaned loudly and struggled against the chair, despising this treatment… something that reminded her of what happened to her when she was a little girl with her friends. “LET ME GO!” She screamed out. She continued to struggle as she heard footsteps ahead of her, approaching her slowly but meticulously.

“Hello, nice to see you’ve finally awoken.” He said. He wore a large fur coat made of chinchilla fur and a large tophat, and he leaned on top of his cane as he smiled at her, his scar eerily staring right at her.

“Who the fuck are you?” She gritted out of her teeth.

“You don’t need to know, girl.” He replied curtly.

“I tend to want to know the names of the people I’m going to fucking destroy.” She replied in an instant.

“Oh, is that what you think you’re going to do to me?” He said, brushing his hand against his well-groomed beard. “And how do you think you’re going to manage that?”

“Why don’t you untie me and find out?” She gritted.

“Hm…” He said, pacing around the room while studying her. “Why do you think you haven’t been able to get out yourself yet?” He commented, his voice becoming more and more high pitched as he spoke excitedly.

She looked up at him, “Um. Really tight rope?”

He laughed out loud. “Maybe you’re not as strong as you used to be.”

“What?!” She struggled again. “It’s in my genetics you asshole, I can’t just suddenly not be as strong.”

“Manticore hired us to capture you. They told us exactly how to prevent you from escaping from us.” He explained. He was okay with telling her everything now that he knew she wouldn’t be able to get out.

Her eyes opened wide. She hadn’t heard that name for a while now, and had almost forgotten about it despite all the trauma she’s been through. “Manticore…?” She repeated in shock.

“Yes. They’ve paid us quite a hefty sum to get to you.” He continued to pace the room. “It wasn’t easy but… I knew if there was some kind of blame for something you didn’t do, you would want to figure out who was doing it right away.” He grinned.

“What?” She thought for a second. She couldn’t believe it. She fell right into their trap.

He laughed. “Anyways… I finally came up with a plan to get to you. You see, our flaw was that we were hunting you down… but you’re impossible to hunt. We gave up after a few years of trying. The best tactic was to actually have you come to us instead.” He explained.

“What? How?” She couldn’t believe she stupid enough to be fooled by these guys.

“You think I don’t know the sound of your voice? I knew you were tracking me, and led you right to me. It was so easy it was almost a joke. Wish I thought of it sooner, to be honest.” She had enough of him. She had to get out, and then figure out who else Manticore had hired to get to her. She pushed against the chair as hard as she could, using the ground to gain some momentum.

“Didn’t you hear what I said? You can’t get out, little girl.” He was getting impatient, she wasn’t as fun as he thought she would be.

“Why not?” She screamed. “What did you do to me?”

“They provided us with some sort of serum to inject inside of you. I was worried they tricked us and it wouldn’t work. But seeing how you are now, struggling like a little pet, I know that they’re serious about trying to get to you. They’re desperate it seems.”

She glanced down at her arm, which was now exposed, her denim jacket thrown to the corner of the room on top of the piles of hay and wood. It had a spot of blood on it, indicating a small needle pressed into her when she was unconscious. They were right. They injected something inside of her. “How can a fucking serum make my genes now work properly? It doesn’t even make sense.”

He shrugged. “I’m no scientist. Just the best hired detective around.” He picked up the syringe from the dirty table, it was completely empty but still had thick silver fluid dripping off the needle. “I assume it interacts with the nucleus of your cells, making the genetic information completely negligible.”

“What the fuck, dude?” She spit on the ground in anger. “Have you no shame? How could you do this to someone on good conscience?”

“Well… based on the way you’re acting towards me now, I’m guessing you’re not so much of a ‘good guy’ either.” He shrugged. “Anyways, enough of this. I’ve told you too much. I’m going to give them the good news now.” He grinned, and turned around, waving his hand goodbye.

“Wait! Wait! Come back!” She screamed out. Her heart was pounding, she had no idea what Manticore would do to her if they finally got to her, and she had to somehow convince this guy to let her go. She had no money to offer him more, so she racked her brain for a solution. “Release me. Be a man. If I can hurt you then you’ll let me go, deal?”

He laughed out loud. “Didn’t you hear what I said? You’re just a weak little girl now without your powers. What are you going to do to me?”

She spit again, this time it landed squarely on his polished shoes. “Well then why don’t you release me and find out? You’re not scared of a little girl, are you?” She grinned maliciously.

“Well, if you put it that way.” He replied. He knelt behind her and pulled out a dagger, in one smooth motion he cut the ropes out of her wrist. She stood up immediately, backing into a wall while rubbing her sore wrists. She glared at him as she touched her head, which was still swollen but not bloody. “I’ll even let you take a few minutes, that’s how confident I am.” He grinned.

She didn’t need a few minutes. She ran towards him, her fist in the perfect position to strike. He dodged her, but didn’t realize her foot was coming after him next. She hit him square on the stomach. It wasn’t the same usual force, but she still got him just the same. He made a loud ‘oof’ sound and she took the chance to run while he was compromised. She had no idea there were people stationed outside though, and two arms grabbed her on either side as she ran as fast as she could.

The man laughed behind her, and approached. “You really think we’ll let you go that easy after trying for so many years?”

“You weak bastard. Injecting me with this stupid serum because you don’t have the guts to go against me.” She was beyond angry at this point, willing to say anything to release her rage. She’s never felt this weak before, this pathetic.

He grabbed her head and slammed her face against the glass window, putting his face very close to her as he whispered in her ear, “Don’t ever call me weak again, you hear?” She could feel his hot breath against her cheek, and she shifted her eyes to stare directly at him, giving him the worst stare she could possibly manage. “Ha. What a feisty one.” He laughed, his voice echoing through the warehouse. “I almost want to keep you as a pet just to see what you’ll do next.”

“But boss… wouldn’t Manticore be mad if you did that? What about all the money they already gave you?” One of the men said, staring at both of them with a worried expression.

“Fuck manticore. This is my prey now. What are they going to do? Ask for the money back? They don’t even know we got her.” He sniffed her, and threw her on the ground. “Tie her up. Well this time.”

The men didn’t have to be told twice. They stuffed some cloth into her mouth, it tasted salty and disgusting, and she tried to spit it out but there was too much inside her mouth for her to move it properly. “Now you’ll finally shut up.” The boss commented. They flipped her on her stomach, and she gave them the finger as they started to tie up her legs expertly. One of the men focused on her feet, tying the rope round and round as she kicked at them. He cuffed her ankles to her shoes, smiling at her struggling. He wrapped the rope around her knees, onto her shins and then around her lower thighs. He focused on her crotch, looping the rope over her but not tight enough that she’d be uncomfortable. It rubbed against her as he hooked the rope around her breasts and onto her upper and lower forearms. Her body was bent backwards now, and she groaned. She’s never been in this position before, and though she was pretty flexible, she didn’t like it very much. When they were distracted, she managed to spit the cloth out, and screamed at them over and over on top of her lungs.

“Shut her up!” The boss said, and one of the men tore off the lower part of his shirt and stuffed it in her mouth as a cleave gag, looping it around her face and wrapping duct tape over her head and around her hair, securing her completely in. Finally, they looped the rope around her body and onto her hands, securing her completely and bending her body against her will.

He walked around to examine their work, nodding. “All that training I’ve put you through really came in handy I see.” She swayed side by side on the ground, groaning loudly. “She’s never looked more beautiful. She should always be like this, completely losing her strength and will and totally at my mercy.” She groaned louder at that, and he had had enough of her noises. “I’m done with her today. Let’s go.” They put a blindfold on her, wrapping a tight black scarf around her eyes so she wouldn’t be able to see where they were taking her. Max had never felt so isolated from the rest of the world. No one knew where she was, where she was going, and all her senses seemed to be taken from her. She could barely feel her numb limbs anymore, she couldn’t speak or taste anything, and she wasn’t able to see anything other than a small glimmer of light in the truck they had put her in. She felt as if she couldn’t think clearly anymore, had no idea who she was. It was terrifying, but she shook her thoughts away. She knew Logan would come after her, would tell anyone he could to come and help him save her- and there was no way their injection would last very long. As soon as she got her powers back, she would be able to get out of this hellhole and destroy every last one of them.

She was lost in her thoughts when they finally arrived at their destination. They lifted her up by her shoulders and legs and threw her onto a soft fabric, then released her blindfold. “We’re here, sweetheart.” She heard the boss say. Before she could reply, they slammed the door in her face and disappeared. She tried to relax that night, but was barely able to. She had no idea what they had planned for her, and she had to be aware at all times.

The next morning, the door slammed open, and she saw one of the men that tied her up enter, carrying a bowl of something as he grabbed a chair and stared at her. When she didn’t react, he released the tape around her hair, which pulled on it as she groaned out loud at the pain. He took the gag out of her mouth, and she swallowed a few times, finally being able to taste again. “What do you want?” She muttered, her voice a little croaky from not talking for so long. She was extremely parched.

“Don’t you want some food?” He asked in a friendly manner, he brushed his hair out of his face, searching for her eyes with his own hazel ones.

“I don’t want anything from you fuckers.” She spit again, but it was hard this time without any fluids in her body.

“You seem like you really need some water.” He commented, and reached for his pocket to get a bottle out.

“Are you dumb? I just told you I don’t want anything.” She tried to cross her arms, but realized once again that her arms were completely tied up.

“C’mon it’s not poisoned, just have some water.” He scooted it towards her, pushing it little by little.

“First of all, I don’t bite. Why are you so far away? Second of all, you literally already poisoned me once, remember? Why would I believe you? Third, I’m tied up remember? I can’t grab the water myself. And fourth, fuck you.”

He laughed out loud, and she frowned at him. “Boss was right, you are a feisty one. You’re so fun, it’s so different from how it is usually here without a girl around.”

“Oh boohoo, sorry you’re so lonely. Now get me out of here if you like me so much.” She was getting more and more frustrated by the second.

He shook his head, but approached her cautiously. He opened the water bottle, and put it against her lips, tilting it slightly as she drank the water greedily. “See, isn’t that much better?” He asked.

“When are you guys letting me go?” She asked, hoping to get any information she could from him.

“I don’t think we are. Boss really fancies you. He wants to keep you as a pet.” He said.

“What the hell does that mean? You’re just going to keep me here for the rest of my life and feed me? What the fuck?” She screamed out, testing the bonds to see if she was getting her strength back.

“I don’t know. That’s just what he said.” He shrugged.

“Bro. Manticore is going to screw you up if they find out what you did. Do you know how many agents they have working for them?” She almost found it funny thinking about what Manticore would do if they found out.

“Are they really that powerful?” He asked nervously, scratching his arm as he leaned back.

“Uh. Duh. They created super humans like me, remember?” She replied.

“Maybe I should talk to the boss.” He said.

“Dude. Let me go first, please.” She begged.

“Wow, never thought you’d be the type to ever say please.” He replied, stunned.

“I need to get out. You don’t know what they’ll do to me if they finally get me. It’s too horrifying. Be a good person for once in your life and let me go.” She was attempting to get out his soft side, and her heart pounded as she saw him think about it.

After a few moments of silence, he stood up, shaking his head without saying another word and closed the door behind him. She cursed loudly, she really thought she convinced him there. She would have to figure something else out.

The rest of the day she spent her time testing the bonds against her body, shifting the rope around and seeing which part was the loosest. She studied the room around her, seeing if there was anything sharp she could grind her body against to release the ropes around her. It seemed the men were really well trained in tying someone up, and she had no idea where to start to finally release herself. By evening, she was starting to give up. There was nothing in the room she could use except for the soft mattress on the ground covered in dirt, and her stomach was growling louder and louder. She was starting to regret not taking up the guy’s offer for food. She wondered what they had to offer.

As her thoughts shifted towards whether or not Logan was coming to find her, she heard the door creak open slowly. Her attention immediately went towards the figure in the room, her body high on alert. “Who are you?” She asked, nervous.

“It’s me again.” He replied. It was the guy that had offered her water earlier. She felt relief, but had no idea what he wanted with her.

“What do you want?” She asked, her eyes narrowing at him.

“I’m going to help you escape.” Her eyes widened in shock, and he pulled out a knife, steadily cutting off her bonds one by one as she gritted her teeth. She felt completely numb when he released her, her body completely out of her control. She flopped onto the ground like a fish out of water, staring at him without asking for help- she never asked for help if she could help it.

“Why aren’t you moving?” He asked, scratching the back of his head.

“Um. I lost all circulation in my body, idiot. You’re going to have to give me a few minutes.” She replied in frustration.

“We don’t have a few minutes, he could come by any second now.” He said in a worried tone. “He can’t find out it was me.”

She thought for a few seconds, she wouldn’t want someone who tried to help her to get hurt. “Okay. You’re going to have to lift me up then.” He nodded, and put her on his back as he opened the door with his foot. She looked around the hallway as he stealthily ran forwards, looking around every corner as he did so. It seemed he was extremely intelligent as well as compassionate. She studied the space, and realized they were in a generic suburban house- she had no idea how they acquired it or what she was doing there.

He went down the stairs and finally reached the front door, and she felt an enormous sense of relief when he opened it silently with no one around them. “I can walk now.” She said, finally able to move her body normally.

He nodded, and set her down. “I’m going to go back now before they get suspicious, maybe let them know I saw you escape. You run as fast as you can, okay?”

She nodded at him, then realized, “Hey! You! I don’t know where I am!”

It seemed he was too far gone, all he did was put his index finger against his lips and whisper “Shh…” before disappearing back inside the house.

She looked around at the abandoned dark road, the lights flickering on and off over and over around her. “Fuck.” She started jogging towards the forest in the distance, not knowing where else to go other than having the desire to have some sort of cover.

When she finally reached the forest edge, she sat down on the ground, breathing a sigh of relief. She stretched her body, feeling every limb one by one as she was finally able to move again. She would have to figure some plan out, and fast. She had no idea how good this boss was at finding her, and she was still too close to him for her liking. After a few moments of thinking, she felt a sensation she had never felt before- the need to sleep. It was like a cloud hanging over her, telling her her body could no longer function properly, that she needed to curl up into a corner and let go of whatever thoughts she had. She complied, and laid on a pile of leaves as she drifted off for the first time in her life. It seemed the serum had worked better than she thought.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

She woke up abruptly to a shuffling sound, and before she could move she felt her body get lifted and slammed against a tree. “Hello, miss.” A familiar voice said.

“Argh!” She screamed out, shifting her body against the arm that had her smooshed against the rough bark.

“You really thought you could escape from us?” He commented, grinning. “And did I see you sleeping there? I thought you genetic freaks weren’t capable of sleeping?”

She didn’t reply, just glared at him the best she could.

“It seems the serum works fantastically. You still don’t have your strength back, do you? I’m almost wet with anticipation to see how powerful you can get when you do get your powers back.” He grinned, showing off his scar again.

She ignored him once more, not letting him get the satisfaction of her anger.

“Well. How about you let me know who helped you escape, and I let you go, hmm? Because I know you didn’t do it yourself without some kind of help.” He whistled.

“Like I’m going to fucking tell you.” She had no guarantee that he was actually going to let her go, and even if she did, she would never betray someone that helped her like that.

“You forgot something.” He said, and put her hat on her head. She was so busy with everything she forgot she had dropped it running out of the house.

“Fuck. You.” She said instead of thanking him like he expected.

“What a pouty mouth.” He said, and before she could say any more he wrapped a scarf around her wrist, tying her up tight with his expert knots before lifting her up and putting her on his shoulders, dangling her as she kicked him on the back over and over.

“Fuck you! Let me go! Let me down! Argh!” She screamed, kicking him and slamming him as hard as she could with her bound hands.

She watched as he brought her down into the cul-de-sac, and then into the house that they had put her in. He walked up the stairs, then threw her onto the bed. “C’mon, girl. You owe him nothing, just tell me which of my men betrayed me, and I’ll let you go.” He said in a soft one.

“Hmm… let me think about it. Very enticing offer here.” She said, staring at him dead in the eyes. “Um. How about no?”

“You little bitch.” He said, and slammed the door behind him so hard the house shook. She could almost laugh out loud from how angry he was, but didn’t feel like it. She completely lost her chance to escape because of her weak human body. It was the first time she didn’t want to feel normal. It was such a foreign thought to her, though being able to sleep did feel amazing. Now she understood what everyone was raving about.

She drifted off to sleep, and when she woke up she had no idea what day or time it was. The door opened again, and he was back, the guy who helped her escape. He sat down slowly, watching her for a few seconds, then nudged her a few times. “Hey.”

“Hey.” She replied, not wanting to talk much.

“Thank you for not ratting me out.” He said.

“Thank you for helping me escape.” She leaned against the bed, wanting to roll over and forget he was there. When he stayed there, watching her, she finally gathered the courage to ask, “Do you think we can try escaping again?”

“I don’t know. I think he’s already suspicious of all of us.”

Just then, footsteps approached, and a furious boss entered the room, grinning at them with a sadistic grin. “So, you’re the one who helped her.”

“No, he’s not.” She gritted.

“I had a camera set up, little girl. You think I’d be so stupid to let you go a second time?” He asked.

“You were stupid enough to let me go the first time.”

He lifted his hand to slap her from anger, but changed his mind, and lowered it.

“Tie her up again. And I want it to be tight this time.” He said to his worker, who looked at him with widened eyes.

“But boss… aren’t you going to fire me or kill me for letting her go?” He asked.

“Do you want me to kill you? No, I believe everyone should get a second chance. And it was so much fun slamming her against that tree that I’ll forgive you this time.”

He felt guilt flood over his body, but there was nothing he could do other than nod and tie her the way that his boss wished. He picked the rope up from the floor and whispered, “Sorry” at her while the boss watched sadistically. Her body was used to it this time, knew the steps of the tying and how it would feel. It was tighter this time, but she was bent for so long last time she knew how to handle being arched like that in a hogtie position, her tight stomach swinging against the soft mattress. She could feel the rope rub against her body, creating little marks all over her because of how tight he was making it. When he wrapped it around her breasts and over her shoulders, she knew it would be complete, and she let herself go, loosening her body and letting the rope support her.

“It seems you’re getting used to being tied up like that.” The boss grinned. “I like that very much. Maybe we can just keep you like that forever, would you like that?”

She spit on him again.

“Is that all you can do right now? Pathetic.” He replied, and left the door open this time. “I want to be able to hear your screams of frustration from my office downstairs, deal?”

“I’m going to fucking tell Manticore what you did, and they’re going to destroy you.” She yelled after him.

“Good luck getting in contact with them!” He replied back from the staircase.

“I’m so sorry.” The man said, looking down at her. “Did I tie it too tightly? Do you want me to loosen it for you?”

She shook her head, “Your boss will know you tried to help me again… and besides, I’m used to it now anyways.” She gave him the tiniest of smiles, and he nodded before leaving as well.

She spent the night sleeping in her bonds, letting herself rest for the first time in her life. It was refreshing in a sick way, how because she was tied up she was no longer constantly thinking about her next mission or the next person she had to save, or who she had to run away from. For the first time in her life, she had time to think. To relax her muscles and not worry about anything- well, other than trying to escape from this sadistic person.

The next morning, she decided she had enough of relaxing. She screamed on top of her lungs over and over, making weird noises and trying to annoy the boss enough that they’d let her go. “LALALALALA! Stupid pig man! Come get me!”

After 10 minutes of screaming, he had had enough. He stomped into her room, glaring at her. “You called?”

“Let me out!” She yelled at him.

“No.” He replied.

He nodded at the two men, who were standing and watching her behind him. They approached with another fabric for the cleave gag, and tied up her face, ensuring she would never be able to get out- and stop with constantly screaming at them. She screamed, struggling over and over, more angry than she’s ever felt in her life.
