Bio: Melissa Black is currently thirty eight, and lives with her husband and two children. She has short black hair, which she generally cut and styled herself every year, thick framed glasses, dimpled cheeks and almost always had a cheery attitude. She was a stay at home mom, and probably always would be, since her husband more than took care of the family financially, and there was just no point in her going to work, at least that’s what she’s always thought. She had two kids, Peter and Katie, who were both currently in high school. She was living the life she’d always wanted to live, and all in all, didn’t have much to complain about.
The worst days were when her husband went on his work trips. No, she wasn’t worried that he was cheating on her or anything like that, but she was pretty attached to him, and hated being home alone, since she was already home alone in most of their daily lives. She didn’t want to go to bed without a warm body next to her, though she never thought to complain about it. She wanted to be a good wife, after all, so figured her husband just had no idea how much it bothered her.
On nights where he’s gone, she’s started reading romance books on her ereader, and the more she’s read, the more she’s started diving into smuttier reads. The ‘normal’ romance just didn’t cut it for her any longer. She was interested in all types of smut, and actually found a community of women on socialbook who were similar minded to her. They spoke about their different dark romances, knowing that none of them would ever do something of the sorts in real life. She had no triggers or limits whatsoever, and there were many times where she’d wondered if there was something wrong with her, or if her husband would leave her if he knew what she was doing.
It was probably another secret she would take to the grave.
Summary: Melissa begins her tale in The Planet of Kavernia with scrolling through her usual feed on socialbook. She comes across a forum discussing a meetup nearby, and decides this is her perfect opportunity to meet some like minded people without getting her husband involved. Telling him it’s just a normal romance book club, she spends a Saturday afternoon enjoying her time with her new friends, discussing her current favorite erotica. She feels fulfilled by the experience, and repeatedly heads back every week, finally feeling something to look forward to since her children were young.
After a month or so, Melissa meets a woman who seems completely different from the rest of them. Instead of being middle-aged with family and kids, the woman feels vibrant and bright, like she has something more to offer the rest of them. This woman is tall, with long, wavy blonde hair, wide hips, and was very toned, like she worked hard to keep her physique perfect. Melissa is intimidated by her at first, but realizes that the woman, ‘Kayla’, was the friendliest of the bunch, and quickly becomes friends with her.
Kayla invites her out a few times, even outside of the book club, and it makes Melissa feel alive for the first time, more than she’d ever been with her husband. They watch empowering movies together, and Kayla tells Melissa to stop doubting her looks or her age, and to live her life as freely as she wants.
Melissa’s husband begins to get annoyed by how often Melissa goes out, and questions her almost every time. Distraught by this, Melissa asks Kayla for advice, and is told immediately that Melissa doesn’t need to answer to her husband all the time, and he can find ways to keep himself company, as she’s done most of their relationship. Melissa starts acting differently, such as not answering the phone when her children or husband call, choosing the company of Kayla over them. She’s never done such a thing before, and feels even stronger for it.
Back at the book club, the women have decided to read a sapphic novel. This is a little unusual for Melissa, but she’s all for it. The book is by far one of her favorites of the year, and after reading it, she finds she can’t stop thinking about it. The more she thinks about it, the more it consumes her thoughts, to the point where she begins touching herself every night after her husband falls asleep, thinking about the two girls in the novel inter tangled in their sheets.
She begins to wonder what it would be like to have a woman put her tongue in between her legs, the feminine yet strong touch of someone who understands what it’s actually like to be a woman in this world.
Melissa, like she always does now, talks to Kayla about this, asking her if she’s going crazy. Kayla is supportive as always. She tells her it’s okay for a woman to explore her sexuality even in her late thirties, and that a lot of women are also awakened when they read specific books that bring their sexuality to the surface.
Kayla reveals to Melissa that she’s exclusively into women, and that she would never go back. They were far better lovers, and understood her like no man ever could.
Melissa goes home to think about this, and begins looking up quizzes to determine her sexuality, which eventually leads to pornography. She can’t help it. She’s desperate to experience it herself, even just once.
The next day she goes to Kayla and tells her, and Kayla smiles, knowing exactly what to do. She sets Melissa up with one of her friends, and Melissa hits it off with her immediately. It feels to Melissa like some sort of magic. She’s never felt a connection so fast with another human before. Besides Kayla, of course.
On the night of their first date, Melissa cheats on her husband. She goes all the way with her new partner, and the erotica and porn did not disappoint. It was far better than she could’ve ever imagined. Her new partner knew exactly which buttons to press. Where to lick, suck, and prod her in the best way possible. Melissa has so many orgasms by the end of the evening she can barely count them all.
She spends more and more time with her new partner the next few months, until she can’t take it anymore, and serves her husband divorce papers. Kayla tells her she knows the perfect lawyer for her situation.
Melissa can’t wait to go home to her new partner every night after starting her new job, and is so pleased that her children both accept her for who she is and adore her new girlfriend.
Melissa wishes every single day that she’s met Kayla sooner.
